For a few years in a row, I was scheduling massages once every two weeks. I wasn’t getting massages for the “luxury” of getting massages. I was getting regular massages because I needed them. If you are getting regular massages, then you know the health benefits that come along with massages — they are numerous. I could always tell when I needed to get a massage. I’d start reaching behind my shoulders and try to give myself a massage. The truth is, that just didn’t cut it. I could tell I was holding on to a lot of stress and I started disliking the fact that I had to pay a lot of money to help relieve some of this stress, sometimes around $200 each month for 90 minute massages. Full body massages were great, but the truth is, I needed focus on my back and shoulder area, the rest was just extra.

A few months ago (on my birthday actually) I was browsing around Amazon and I saw this HoMedics Shiatsu and Vibration Massage Pillow. I was skeptical as to whether or not this would work because I’ve tried numerous massage pillows (most of them just vibrated) and nothing ever did what I needed it to do. When my massage pillow arrived, I set it up on my reclining chair and let the pillow do the work. Just a tip, when you receive your massage pillow, you’ll want to adjust it until you feel it working on your knots. Sometimes that means moving it around underneath your shoulders until it hits the right spot, and once you have it in the correct position, you’ll know it! It helps to prop it up at an angle on a pillow instead of laying flat on it. I can actually feel it working the knots out and it’s amazing! The massage pillow is set to run for 15 minutes and will automatically turn off when the time is up. You can add the heat and/or the vibration with the shiatsu massage. I usually just use the shiatsu setting and sometimes add heat. I’m not a huge fan of any vibration when using this massage pillow.

I keep this pillow next to my bed now and use it everyday, no kidding. Sometimes I use it twice a day at different times, depending on how stressed I feel. I don’t lay on it flat, instead, I prop it up on my bed pillow at a slight angle. After my 15 minute session is up, I feel so relaxed and calm.

I love the HoMedics Shiatsu and Vibration Massage Pillow with Heat because it works well. Plus, it saves me a lot of money. I purchased this massage pillow for around $50. I’ve used it since February and haven’t had ANY more professional massages. I don’t feel the need to spend hundreds of dollars on massages anymore thanks to this product!

It is never too early to teach kids how to save money. I found a product that will help me teach my daughter how to save money at an early age called the Money Savvy Pig. The Money Savvy Pig is not your traditional piggy bank. The Money Savvy Pig is a piggy bank with four chambers, one for each of the four money management choices a child should be taught from the time they are small–Save, Spend, Donate, and Invest. The Money Savvy Pig is a money management tool for children ages 4 and above.

When we received the Money Savvy Pig, I was a little concerned as to how my daughter was going to react to it. I thought it would be too hard for her to understand how to use it. She is two and the product isn’t recommended for children under 3. I decided to allow her to test the product out with careful supervision. As soon as I took it out of the box she was curious and excited about how to use it. I sat down with her and explained the four chambers: save, spend, donate, and invest.

We took out our can of change and started placing one coin into each chamber at a time. As we fed our pig with money, I asked her to repeat each word for me. Although she is still too young to understand what each word means, this pig is a great teaching tool. As a parent, this makes it easy for me and as she gets older I plan to talk more about what each word means until she grasps the four money saving concepts. When each chambers get filled, we will do exactly what it says to do. For example, if the “donate” chamber fills up, we will either donate to a charity, to our church, or to someone in need.

When the “save” chamber gets full, we will put the money into her own personal savings account and “invest” in her college account. We will “spend” on items she may have on her “wish list.” The Money Savvy Pig makes it easy for me as a mother to be able to teach my daughter the importance of each basic personal finance concept. My daughter had a blast “feeding the pig” as we called it and didn’t want to put the piggy away! I do recommend this product to you.
