Mission Complete: Pantry Organized (Photos!)

Whew! Organizing my pantry was a task. But I am finished! MISSION COMPLETE! I feel like celebrating!

I finally cleaned out my pantry. It has been weighing heavily on my shoulders lately and I focused today to get my pantry organized. I feel that I am an organized person, but if you would have opened the door to my pantry earlier today, you probably would have disagreed. It was clearly a disaster! I didn’t even take pictures of the “before” because I was THAT embarrassed!

I ended up filling two garbage bags full of empty boxes, wrappers, and old cereal boxes. I do not like keeping things in boxes (snacks, fruit cups, granola bars) because it takes up too much space and I like to have things ready to go when I need them. I didn’t throw out too much food. If I did throw it out, it was because there was only a little bit left that we most likely would not eat.

My mission today was to combine like items and figure out what I needed to shop for during my next shopping trip. From the looks of it, I could make several meals based on what we have now without even having to go shopping in the next few weeks!

Take a look below at my organized pantry. Are you in shock by the quantity of some items? Don’t panic, this is how I shop. When I find an item on sale, I buy six, especially if it is an item I know that I will always buy (peanut butter, jelly, pinto beans, whole wheat pasta, pasta sauce, etc.) By doing this, I don’t have to make trips to the grocery store as often. Read about how to start a small stockpile. I am a huge fan of stockpiling and usually buy up to a month to three months worth of products. The secret is to stock up when the items are on sale and use coupons with the sale if possible. Notice that I have plenty of peanut butter and jelly but I am running out of maple syrup! When I find maple syrup on sale, I will buy six of them! And yes, I am a syrup snob. I want the real deal.
