It’s that time of year here in the Pacific Northwest. Even though it’s still October, I feel like I’m ready to jump into all things Christmas. I think the reason for this is because we live in a different area now where the weather is much cooler than it was in the south. I guess it never really felt like fall on the East Coast due to warm temperatures! Just this week I found myself listening to Christmas music on my computer while working here on my website.
I’m gearing up for the holidays and purchasing Christmas craft items for my girls at Dollar Tree. I like to visit my Dollar Tree regularly and browse through the store to see what I can find. I use my creativity to put together craft items that will be fun for my girls, but also affordable. I try not to go over $10 on any craft and like to keep each craft around the $5-$10 range. Just recently, I shared my first Dollar Tree Haul on YouTube where I show you all of the fun items I find during my Dollar Tree shopping trips!
For our first craft, I stuck around the Christmas section and found some clear ornaments, faux snow, snowflake stickers, and funnels to create our very first Christmas craft of the season. Altogether, I spent $4 on this craft for my girls and we will display these ornaments on our Christmas tree this year. I allow my girls to do as much of the craft as they can since I believe it’s a great learning experience. I do only the parts that I feel will be difficult for them, or the parts that I feel may not be safe for them. They do everything else! They love crafts and I can’t wait to share more crafts with you in the near future.
To create Snowflake Ornaments using items only from Dollar Tree, you’ll need the following:
Crafter’s Square Faux Snow, 28.9-cu-in. Bags – Can be found in two different sizes.
For how-to directions on making this craft, watch our video below, or keep reading for the directions.
1. Open the ornament by pulling off the cap.
2. Insert a funnel into the ornament.
3. Using the funnel, pour in the faux snow into ornament. Leave a small space at the top and be careful not to overfill.
4. Replace the cap. (This is a good step for the parents to do, it can be difficult to put the cap back on.)
5. Peel off the back of the snowflake stickers and attach around the ornament.
